The Script

Typewriter

Greg Sullivan wrote the script for the Short Project intentionally creating a story with a compelling emotional core that would speak strongly to any audience, but specifically speak to the hearts of artists like those that will create the short itself.

Second on the list of considerations was to create a script that was extremely producible. To assure that the film would be make-able the cast was kept to just two characters, the set was limited in scope to two indoor environments and the length was kept as short as possible. This simplicity of the script isn't intended to make the production easy, its intended to force those who will work on the short to focus on the details and bring excellence to every little nuance; something that would prove impossible in a more complicated script.

The last major consideration when writing the script was openness. There are very few concrete details in the script that would limit the creative input of the Short Project participants. No names are given to the characters because names can imply gender or ethnicity, which is something that we want the character designers to contribute. The set is described only vaguely with the intention of letting the set designers bring their own ideas to the table. Each participant is given the chance to contribute creatively.

So, download the script, take a read and let your creativity run wild, we can't wait to see what you come up with.
